Large, one storey extension on the Wirral

Sometimes, a simple design can produce the most impressive results. Take a look at this charming red brick extension we constructed for one of our Wirral clients, for example. A beautiful build, perfectly matching the existing brickwork.

As the gallery pictures demonstrate, this was about as straightforward a project as we could hope for. The construction times reflect that, taking a mere eight weeks from start to finish. Taking into account the size of the build and that we fitted a kitchen at the same time, that’s a good result.

The foundation stage

Like every extension, we start off with the relevant groundworks. Since this one was to include a kitchen, we needed adequate draining and plumbing laid around the foundations. Once they were set, we were in a position to raise the walls.

Facing front

For the walls, we used face bricks. These are functionally the same as your standard masonry bricks, just with a different finish. While masonry bricks often have a rough surface, face bricks are usually smoother. It’s purely a cosmetic choice but we’re sure you’ll agree it sets off the finished extension very well.

Up on the roof

This is a single plane roof, which is simple to include with any extension as it requires little in the way of support. Vertical joists provide a solid base for the horizontal beams that we use to lay the tiles on. In this instance, our client chose red scalloped tiles, rather than the traditional flat slates. It’s a bold look for an extension, but one that works well here.

Filling in the spaces

When you order an extension with CP Developments Ltd, you don’t just get the outer shell. All of the interior fixtures and fittings come as part of the deal. That’s not just a case of plastering the walls and rendering the ceiling, either. If you want a utility room, we’ll plumb in your appliances. If you want a bathroom, we’ll sort out your tiling, your plumbing, and your power shower. Kitchens are very popular, and our service includes putting together all the work surfaces and units. A complete, end-to-end service, guaranteed.
